Abstract
This desk study was conducted with the purpose of identifying and organizing the available information from recent studies that have been made on didactic strategies to improve writing skills in preschool education in Latin America, within a 10-year time range (2014-2024). This was a qualitative study in which a description was made of the different strategies found and the results that were obtained after using them with preschool students. Twenty theses were selected as a sample, which were accessed through university archives and academic search engines. A working bibliography was created to organize the theses used for this study and two analysis axes were determined to guide the hermeneutic approach: 1) strategies for developing writing skills and 2) results obtained by using strategies for developing writing skills. It was found that there is a wide variety of didactic strategies that can be used to develop writing skills in preschool children, some of which include reading storybooks and other forms of children literature, using images, strategies with a communicative approach, the creation of collective stories, using real-life experiences, and strategies focusing on play. The results show that a major development of the children’s writing skills was achieved through the use of these strategies, showing an increase in their creativity, making it easier for them to understand and use the written code, helping them write more coherent and cohesively, showing an improvement in their ability to plan, write and revise, developing their communication skills and an increasing their likelihood of writing spontaneously.
