This documentary study explores research published between 2015 and 2024 on teaching strategies aimed at developing critical thinking in early childhood education. The main objective was to recognize and value the contributions of various academic works regarding the methodologies applied and the progress made in promoting critical thinking during early childhood. The research emerged from observing classroom practices, where it was often noted that teachers merely ask children to repeat and memorize content, without giving them the opportunity to think for themselves, ask questions, or seek their own answers. This limits children’s ability to analyze, reflect, or better understand what they learn. Through a qualitative review of national and international theses, the analysis identified the most commonly used strategies by teachers and the effects observed after their implementation. The results show that incorporating active methodologies—such as collaborative learning, open-ended questioning, and playful activities—fosters the development of critical thinking in children, promoting their autonomy, curiosity, and ability to analyze their environment from the early years of schooling. The study recommends that educators innovate and adapt their teaching strategies by integrating approaches that encourage reflection, questioning, and active participation of children, in order to enrich learning and meet the current demands of early childhood education.
