Abstract
This research addresses puppet theater as a pedagogical strategy to improve emotional self regulation in 5-year-old children at the Institución Educativa Inicial N. º 172 in the city of Moyobamba in 2025. It was an applied research study, using a quantitative approach, aimed at determining the influence of an independent variable (puppet theater) on a dependent variable (emotional self-regulation), achieving significant changes after the intervention. The study was conducted with two groups: one experimental and one control, made up of 5 year-old students. Data collection used a checklist applied before (pre-test) and after (post test) the experiment, evaluating four dimensions: emotional expression, regulation of emotions and feelings, coping skills, and competence in generating positive emotions. The results showed that, after the puppet theater intervention, the experimental group went from 65% at a low level and 35% at a medium level to 61% at a high level and 39% at a medium level, confirming a significant improvement in emotional self-regulation. The Mann Whitney U statistical test yielded a value of p = 0.000 < 0.05, which allowed us to reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis, confirming the effectiveness of the strategy applied. Finally, it is concluded that the implementation of puppet theater is an effective pedagogical tool for strengthening emotional self-regulation in early childhood education, promoting personal development, school coexistence, and the positive expression of emotions.
