Abstract
The objective of this research was to demonstrate the level of effectiveness of pictograms as a means to improve the reading levels of 5-year-old boys and girls of I.E No. 177, New Generation. It corresponds to an applied research, with a design of two groups, one experimental and one control, with a quasi-experimental design, with two non-equivalent groups. The population was made up of 41 4-year-old boys and girls, distributed in two sections: Happiness with 20 children and Love 21, constituting a control and experimental group. After applying the independent variable “Pictograms”, the post-test was carried out with the evaluation instrument developed by the authors of this project. The instrument underwent expert judgment validity and Cronbach's Alpha was used for reliability and was shown to have excellent validity (0.83). The data were analyzed through the statistical software SPSS V 26.0. and the results were presented through tables and graphs; To contrast the hypotheses, the Mann-Whitner U test was used, obtaining the degree of statistical significance of 0.000 being less than 0.005, which is why the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted, that is, the means of the pre and post test. are different, therefore, it is concluded that the Pictograms were efficient to promote reading in 5-year-old children in I.E N° 177, New Generation – 2023.
